About
Welcome to Ironwood Cider House, nestled in the breathtaking scenery of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Located at 1425 Lakeshore Rd, this charming establishment has emerged as a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike.
Once known as Sunnybrook, Ironwood has transformed under new ownership, expanding from exclusive fruit wines into the delightful realm of ciders. Customers like Tony Citta have praised the seamless blend of fruit wines with the newly crafted ciders, showcasing the establishment’s commitment to both tradition and innovation. The Bosch pear wine remains a favorite, a nostalgic nod to its roots.
One of the highlights of Ironwood is the diverse selection of ciders. Many have acclaimed the well-crafted profiles that strike a perfect balance between sweetness and dryness. British Grocer, a discerning palate from Bristol, found a cider experience that they deemed unparalleled in Canada. This sentiment echoes throughout the reviews, with regulars returning for the Caribbean Lime and yuja ciders, which present unique flavors that excite the senses.
But it's not just about the ciders! The delightful charcuterie board and spinach dip offer perfect pairings, enhancing the tasting experience while ensuring that guests can savor every bite alongside their drinks. The tapas are not just a side; they are a testament to the culinary collaboration that compliments their fine beverages.
The atmosphere at Ironwood Cider House is modern and inviting. Customers have described it as a fantastic spot to unwind, with options such as corn hole to enjoy while sipping on a flight of ciders. The ambiance is consistently praised, making it an ideal place to relax either after a day of touring the area’s wineries or as a destination in its own right.
Visitors can also indulge in their unique dessert wines, such as the Iced Apple and Iced Pear, which are perfect for those with a sweet tooth. The pricing is reasonable, adding to the overall appeal of this lovely spot.
Whether you're a local seeking your new favorite cider or a traveler exploring the bounty of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ironwood Cider House promises a delightful experience that satisfies both the palate and the soul. We highly recommend visiting this gem where nature's essence is captured in every sip and bite.
“ We first discovered this place when it was Sunnybrook and only made fruit wines. Feel in love with the Bosch pear wine. The new owners expanded it to include ciders which are very good. We love the fact that they've kept the fruit wines. ”
“ For 12 years of living in Canada, I have been searching for an amazing cider. Today, we found the best cider we have tasted in Canada! Being a Bristolian, growing up with hundreds of delicious West Country ciders, it's been a hard adjustment to Canadian cider. Most are too sweet or too dry. The ciders that Ironwood produces are just perfect. We came in with 6 Brits and 2x1 year old. Great service, great pricing, we will be back for sure! ”
“ Nice place to swing by if you’re touring the wineries. Ciders were good but the cocktail flight they had as a special was the best (20). Cider flights were a great price and the 25 wine flight came with a free full bottle of wine to take home, which was a fantastic deal as well. The atmosphere was modern and casual, cornhole was available. It wasn’t too busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon, no reservation and no wait. It looked like they were preparing some Indian catering as well, but it wasn’t ready when we were there. Would recommend! ”
“ Wow what a beautiful space! So well done! Cool art gallery up top too. The ladies working were very nice. Had fun trying the ciders. They didn’t have as many as they normally do but enjoyed what they did have! Off season when we went so the kitchen wasn’t up and running. ”
“ Tried a flight of ciders and really liked the yuja and Caribbean Lime ciders. Their ice wine was delicious as well, especially paired with the honey and blueberry goat cheese crustini. Patio was nice, great music taste from the staff. They were very helpful and are great at recommending stuff to try. Great place to hang out and try some wine and ciders! ”
“ We ordered the modern cider & classic fruit tasting flights. We love the yuja, Aranciata, maple apple and blueberry. The ambience was modern & lovely. The lady serving us was very friendly and we enjoyed our conversation with her! Excellent service! ”
“ Amazing Wedding Venue Shannon and the team at Ironwood where amazing to work with! The venue is beautiful and modern, the catering was excellent and the bar service and staff made all our guests and us feel welcome and well looked after. It was great to have a leader like Shannon to look after things, she took our vison and executed it perfectly and to have a whole team that was energized for our little gay wedding. The grounds were beautiful and provide great, diverse phot opportunities. We have 68 people at our wedding including family who traveled from far away and all were impressed with our venue, it is a great blank slate to add your own theme and style. All the little things like the sound system, microphones, drinks, venue set up and food service were great, which meant we were able to relax and enjoy our wedding celebration. ”
“ We loved this boutique style cider house. They have a variety of fruit wine and cider to try in different flights, we will definitely come back to taste more Interesting choice of food to enjoy on their spacious patio with our dog ”
